The main idea of the project is to maintain biodiversity conservation, sustainable recreational use of natural protected areas and increase in public ecological awareness.

In project activities are involved several museums ( Riihisaari – Lake Saimaa Nature and Museum Centre, Lusto – The Finnish Forest Museum, Botanical Museum of the Komarov Botanical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences) and arboretums (in Punkaharju and Plodovoe, lake Otradnoye). On museums territories will be organized thematic expositions. Plants will be exchanged between the arboretums. As a result of the exchange demonstration zones will be created.

Navigate systems for visitors (pointers, information stands, QR-labels) will be renewed in Punkaharju arboretum and the Botanical Garden. Selected objects (museums and arboretums) will be unified by educational online-platform. It will become a comprehensive solution for covering the activities of the participating organizations and services provided on their territory. It will also help get to know the collection fund.

Main results for the region

  • Information on the environmental situation will be more available, public ecological awareness will increase;
  • Museums and arboretums attendance will become more comfortable for visitors;
  • Actions taken to maintain biodiversity conservation will promote further improvement in the cross-border area.
